Black and white to colour
Bring black-and-white and faded photos to colour with AI that runs on your device.

- Run, compare before and after, then download or share.
Colorize photo
Old family photos, scans and black-and-white pictures get natural colour from DeOldify, an open-source colourisation model. The model predicts the colours, and they are laid over your photo's own detail at full resolution, so faces and textures stay sharp. The model (about 64 MB) downloads once and then works offline; your photos are never uploaded.

Frequently asked questions
How accurate are the colours?
The model guesses likely colours from what it sees: skin, sky, grass and wood usually look natural, while clothes and painted objects can differ from the real colours. Colour strength lets you tone it down or up.
Why does the first run take longer?
The first time, your browser downloads the colourisation model (about 64 MB) and keeps it. After that each photo takes roughly 10 to 20 seconds, even offline.
Does it work on sepia or faded colour photos?
Yes. The photo is read as greyscale first, so sepia and washed-out prints are recoloured the same way.
