CPNS photo requirements
The CPNS upload form expects a photo of 4 × 6 cm with a file size of at most 200 KB, in JPEG. This preset applies both at once: it resizes and crops to 4 × 6 cm, then compresses to the largest quality that still fits under 200 KB, so the file is accepted the first time instead of being bounced for being too large. The crop editor lets you centre the face before running, and the result can be downloaded or shared straight to the phone you are applying from.
Who needs this
Candidates filling in the CPNS application and anyone preparing a photo for a government, exam or job portal with similar limits.
Resize image
Resize by exact pixels or physical size at a chosen DPI. Keep the aspect ratio, crop to fill, or pad with a color. Optionally compress the result to a size limit at the same time.

Frequently asked questions
Are these the current CPNS specifications?
They follow the latest public notification. Requirements change between cycles, so always confirm the dimensions and size on the official notice; both fields here are editable.
My photo comes out larger than 200 KB. What now?
Run it again with the limit lowered slightly, or reduce the DPI. A result that misses the target is flagged on the card so you never upload it by mistake.
Does the portal need a minimum size as well?
Some do, for example 20 to 200 KB. If your result is below the minimum, use the increase size tool to pad it up to the required kilobytes without changing the picture.
Is my photo uploaded anywhere while processing?
No. Resizing and compression happen inside your browser. Only you decide where the finished file goes.
Can I resize in centimeters or inches?
Yes. Switch the unit to cm, mm or in, set the DPI (300 for print, 72–96 for screens) and the tool converts to exact pixels and writes the DPI into the file (JPG and PNG).
What is the difference between Fit, Fill and Stretch?
Fit keeps the whole image inside the box, Fill crops to cover the box exactly, Stretch ignores the aspect ratio, and Pad adds a background to reach the exact size without cropping.
Can I resize and compress at the same time?
Turn on "Also limit file size" and set a KB target. The image is resized first and then encoded to fit your limit in one pass.
