Blur Face

Protect people’s privacy before you share a photo: faces are found automatically by a small detection model that runs on your device, then blurred, pixelated or covered with a black box. Use High sensitivity for group photos and wide shots with small faces, widen the margin to cover hair and ears, and process a whole batch at once. To hide something that is not a face, such as a number plate or a name tag, use Pixelate in the photo editor. Nothing is uploaded.

How it works

  1. Add images by dropping, choosing or pasting them.
  2. Adjust the options — everything previews on your device.
  3. Run, compare before and after, then download or share.

Frequently asked questions

Is the face detection done on a server?

No. A 1.6 MB detection model runs in your browser, so the photo never leaves your device. It downloads once and is then cached.

It missed a face. What can I do?

Switch Detection to High, which also scans the photo in sections to find small faces. For faces in profile or partly hidden, open the result in the photo editor and pixelate the rest by hand.

Can the blur be reversed?

Pixelate at high strength or Black box removes the detail from the saved file. A light blur can sometimes be partly enhanced, so use high strength when privacy matters.
