Resizing JPG images

This preset keeps the output in JPG while you change the width and height in pixels, centimetres, millimetres or inches. Resampling is high quality in both directions, the aspect ratio can be locked or cropped, and the DPI is written into the file for printing. Add the optional size limit to meet a kilobyte cap in the same pass. Batches of up to 50 JPG files are processed together and downloaded as a ZIP, all on your device.

Who needs this

Anyone who must deliver JPG at specific dimensions: web and app assets, print jobs, forms, catalogues and documents.

Frequently asked questions

Does resizing JPG change the quality?

Downscaling keeps images sharp. Lossy formats are re-encoded at the quality you set (92 percent by default); PNG stays lossless.

Can I resize by percentage?

Enter the target width and leave the height blank with the ratio locked: the height follows automatically. Any width works, so halving a 2000 pixel image is simply 1000.

Is transparency kept in JPG?

PNG and WebP keep it. JPG has no transparency, so transparent areas are filled with the background colour you choose.

What about the metadata?

EXIF data is dropped on output, which removes location and camera details and makes the file smaller. Orientation is applied before resizing, so photos are never sideways.

Can I resize in centimeters or inches?

Yes. Switch the unit to cm, mm or in, set the DPI (300 for print, 72–96 for screens) and the tool converts to exact pixels and writes the DPI into the file (JPG and PNG).

What is the difference between Fit, Fill and Stretch?

Fit keeps the whole image inside the box, Fill crops to cover the box exactly, Stretch ignores the aspect ratio, and Pad adds a background to reach the exact size without cropping.

Can I resize and compress at the same time?

Turn on "Also limit file size" and set a KB target. The image is resized first and then encoded to fit your limit in one pass.
