Video to GIF

Pick the start and end of the moment you want, choose the frame rate and width, and get a looping GIF for chats, docs or memes. Frames are taken straight from the video in your browser, each with its own 256-colour palette for the best quality a GIF can hold.

How it works

  1. Add a video.
  2. Set the start and end, the frame rate and the width.
  3. Make the GIF and download it.

Frequently asked questions

How long can the GIF be?

There is no hard limit, but GIFs grow quickly: 5 seconds at 10 frames per second and 480 px is usually 2 to 6 MB. Use a lower frame rate or width for longer clips.

Which videos work?

MP4, MOV, WebM and MKV with the common codecs (H.264, HEVC where the browser supports it, VP8, VP9 and AV1).

Does the GIF keep the sound?

No. GIF is a silent image format. If you need sound, use the video compressor to make a short MP4 instead.
