Does converting AVIF to JPG reduce quality?
Converting into a lossless format keeps every pixel. Converting into a lossy one re-encodes at the quality you set; 92 percent is visually identical for photos and still far smaller than the original.
Why would I want JPG instead of AVIF?
Compatibility and size. JPG opens where AVIF may not, and modern formats can be much smaller for the same look. The compare slider shows both side by side.
Is transparency kept?
Yes when JPG supports it (PNG, WebP, AVIF, ICO). JPG and BMP do not, so transparent areas are filled with the background colour you pick.
